San Jose is the main port serving Occidental Mindoro to the west of the central mountain range. Chief commodities handled at the port are rock salt, palay, rice, tobacco, live animals and other agricultural products for outbound cargo and cement, fertilizer and general commodities for inbound cargo

Location
–It is approximately 2 kilometers from the Municipality of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro. It is 217 miles from Manila via the Verde Island Passage and 170 miles via the Calavite Passage.

Port Limits: The territorial jurisdiction of the Port of San Jose (Occidental Mindoro) is delineated and particularly described, as follows:
“Beginning at point marked 1 on the plan, thence to point 2 at a distance of 303.00 m with bearing S 66? 30’ E, thence to point 3 at a distance of 652.00 m with bearing N 24? 30’ E, thence to point 4 at a distance of 612.45 m with bearing N 65? 40’ W, thence to point 5 at a distance of 685.00 m with bearing S 24? 30’ W, thence to point 1, the point of beginning at a distance of 310.00 m with bearing S 70? 57’ E, all in all comprising a total area of 405,467.91 sq.m. more or less.”

Navigational Approach: Latitude 120 19’55”N, longtitude 121005’10”E.The port is about 150 m NW from the Caminawit Point on the southwestern tip of Mindoro island. . Sea distance to Batangas City is 135 nautical miles.

– Port Facilities
Facilities of the port includes the old pier on concrete piles measuring 60 m long and 15 m wide fendered by timber pile clusters and used by wooden seacraft or “batels”. Draft alongside is from 1.0 to 2.0 meters. It also has a concrete wharf 60 m long with controlling draft of 3.0 m and a concrete pier projecting 74 meters from the wharf seaward with a 32 m wide ramp at the offshore end and another 32 m long berth at the west side of the pier. It has a controlling draft of 3 to 4 meters. Other facilities are an asphalt paved open storage with an area of 1,612 sq.m.; a multi-purpose building housing a covered storage area of 225 sq.m. and the building further provides another 300 sq.m. for passenger terminal with amenities and parking area
